The Imphal Art Gallery was inaugurated by commissioner of Art and Culture, M Joy, on Sunday, at Kwakeithel Leimakhujam Leikai, Imphal West.
The Imphal Art Gallery is a long-cherished dream of mine and today, the dream has become true, said Robin Wahengbam, owner of the gallery.
Imphal Art Gallery is to fulfil the dreams and honour tradition with senior artists exhibition. The Imphal Art Gallery is dedicated to Robin’s father Wahengbam Ibohal Singh.
Art and culture commissioner, M Joy, while inaugurating the gallery, said that many youths are studying fine arts. Such a gallery will be helpful to newcomers as old art works are here at the gallery, he added.
Robin’s father was not an artist but his love for art made his son become an artist, the commissioner said.
“For us, art exhibition is of prime importance, alongside interactions among artists. This is where an art gallery comes in”, said Robin.
