Ima Market is a living example of women empowerment: Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey

Altogether, 49 students from different parts of Madhya Pradesh are on tour to Manipur under Yuva Sangam, Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme.

Ima Market is a living example of women empowerment, Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey said.

"Women of the state are taking a good role even in socio economic front and Ima Market is a living example of women empowerment in the state," Uikey said, speaking about the beauty of Manipur.

Uikey was speaking at an interaction with a team of visiting students and faculty members from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indore and the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Manipur at Raj Bhavan in Imphal on Friday.

Altogether, 49 students from different parts of Madhya Pradesh are on tour to Manipur under Yuva Sangam, Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme.

While interacting with the visiting students, the governor said under the collective vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme has been launched to facilitate youths of the country to go across states and get in touch with people.

She said, "With this initiative, people-to-people contact will increase and people can understand each other's culture, tradition, attire, food habits, lifestyles and language. This will help students to know different cultures, traditions, language etc. and eventually help them to be perfect in life".

The governor stated that the whole North East and especially Manipur is naturally a beautiful place to visit.

The culture of Manipur is unique and people are religious. Traditional attire of Manipur is worth mentioning and we can enjoy its beauty even in religious festivals, the governor added.

The governor interacted with the students and asked the students to share their knowledge and experiences they get while visiting Manipur to their families and friends. She also expressed hope that such an initiative of exchanging culture, tradition etc. among the youth of the country will definitely help to strengthen the sense of unity in diversity for making a strong India in days to come.

Prof Goutam Sutradhar, Director NIT, Manipur said, the programme is a unique opportunity of exchanging culture, history, tradition, lifestyle etc. to the youth of the country.
