Internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Moreh staying at different relief camps have warned of a counter blockade along Imphal-Moreh road from February 9, if the Tengnoupal District Village Volunteers fail to withdraw their demands and protests to remove the state forces stationed at Moreh within February 8.
Speaking to the media on behalf of the IDPs, Thangjam Ibungo of Moreh Ward Number 7, an inmate at the relief camp opened at Wangjing Kodomokpi sports complex, said that the state forces are being deployed at Moreh to maintain the law-and-order situation and to safeguard the territorial integrity of the state in the border town Moreh.
He said that the IDPs strongly condemn the act of the Tengnoupal District Village Volunteers who have been protesting by not providing food and daily basic needs of the security personnel. He appealed to those concerned to withdraw their protest within February 8.
Thangjam Ibungo said that the IDPs along with different CSOs of the state will initiate various agitations from February 9 if they fail to withdraw their protest. IDPs of Moreh attended the press meet.
