Hungpung village authority and several CSOs strongly condemned the alleged killing of one person of Kaziphung Hungphung late Monday and termed the incident a "cold blooded murder".
Sources told the Imphal Free Press that the incident occurred around 9-10 pm on Monday. The victim, Somi KSV, 27, son of Ramu KSV of Hungpung Kaziphung was reportedly found dead with three major injuries inflicted on his body.
His body was found in the heart of Hungphung Kaziphung road roadside, the sources said, adding that an FIR was lodged on July 4 itself at the Ukhrul police station.
Taking serious note of the incident, Hungpung village authority strongly condemned the incident. It appealed to the authorities concerned to book the culprits at the earliest and bring justice to the family of the deceased and the village.
In a joint statement, several Hunphung organisations including Thawaijao Hungpung Youth Student Organization, Lower Hungpung Public Organisation, Lower Hungpung Youth Organisation, Lower Hungpung Shanao Long, Dungrei Public Organisation, Thawaijao Hungpung Longnao, Imphal, Women of Hungpung Unit for Social Advancement and The New Vision, New Delhi strongly condemned the heartless act perpetrated against the deceased.
They appealed to the authority concerned to investigate the case at the earliest and order action against the culprits. The Thawaijao Hungpung Longnao, Imphal also urged the state government, district authorities and village authority to proceed with necessary steps so that perpetrators are booked and the case is investigated in order that such crime is not repeated in the future.
The Hungphung organisations expressed solidarity and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul.
