Human Trafficking and Child Rights: Jiribam journalists get training

The Jiri News Network in collaboration with FXB India and under the support of ECPAT Luxembourg conducted programme to train journalists in the fight against human trafficking.

A ‘Sensitisation Cum Training Programme for Journalists on Right-based Reporting on Incidences of Human Trafficking and Child Rights Issues’ was conducted at Babupara, Jiribam district Sunday.

The programme was organised by the Jiri News Network in collaboration with FXB India and under the support of ECPAT Luxembourg, at the conference hall of Jiri News Network.

The event was attended by Jiri News Network executive programme director M Shyamkumar Singh, along with FXB India Suraksha Ukhrul Branch programme officer Wugreiso Shang and FXB India Suraksha Imphal Branch programme officer K Sunil Meitei as the resource persons.

Delivering the keynote address, K Sunil Meitei said that the programme was conducted to train journalists in the fight against human trafficking. Resource person of the programme Wugreiso Shang spoke on different crimes related to human trafficking.

K Sunil Meitei also recalled the recent cases of human trafficking and highlighted the different push and pull factors of human trafficking. He spoke on Restorative Justice, legal meaning of Human trafficking and principles of JJ Acts 2015.
