A combined team of 36 Assam Rifles and Sangaikot Police Station conducted a comprehensive search operation in the general area of Khengmol village, located within the jurisdiction of Sangaikot Police Station in Churachandpur district, Manipur.
Sources said that the operation, which took place from 7 am to 1.30 pm on Wednesday, led to the recovery of a substantial cache of weapons and riot control equipment, some of which are believed to have been looted from law enforcement.
The items recovered during the search include one gas gun (suspected to be looted from the police), two modified sniper rifles with telescopic sights, one 9 mm pistol with magazine (country made), one modified .303 rifle with Magazine, four 12 bore single barrel rifles, one long-range tear gas shell, likely looted from the police, one tear smoke grenade, one tear smoke grenade (CS) anti-riot (likely looted from the police), three 38 mm cartridges anti-riot with rubber bullets, AFK Pune MK-III, likely looted from the police, one Stun grenade anti-riot (likely looted from the police), two 12 bore rounds and two improvised heavy mortars.
The recovered items have been handed over to the Officer-in-Charge at Sangaikot Police Station for further investigation and necessary action.
