Human Rights Alert (HRA) on Sunday held a condolence meeting to pay respect to the departed soul of Justice W A Shishak who passed away on August 3, 2023.
In a release, the HRA said that a group of concerned lawyers and human rights activists took part in the condolence meeting. He was the former Chairperson of Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC), the first Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court and also of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, it mentioned.
Former MHRC member advocate Ng Nongyai, chief guest of the function stated in his speech that “Justice Shishak is a soldier of human rights, committed to delivering justice to the marginalised and the downtrodden. A humanist, with impeccable integrity and courage.”
Executive director MHRC advocate Babloo Loitongbam who presided the function also stated that “Justice Shishak is the proverbial friend, philosopher and guide of the human rights movement of Manipur. His demise is an irreparable loss to the movement”.
