House visit for absentee voters begins in Manipur

The total number of approved eligible absentee voters in respect of the Bishnupur district is 1,056, which includes 603 senior citizens (AVSC), and 453 persons with disabilities (AVPD).

To ensure inclusive participation in the democratic process, polling teams have started visiting the houses of eligible absentee voters for the ensuing General Election to the 18th Lok Sabha, 2024 from Sunday.

The visits were carried out to facilitate the issue and receipt of postal ballots in respect of Bishnupur district, Manipur in the categories of Senior Citizens, 85 years and above, (AVSC) and Persons with Disabilities, (AVPD).

The first round of visits of polling teams to houses of approved lists of eligible absentee voters will continue until April 14, with a subsequent scheduled for April 15 and 16 to cover the left-out voters.

A total of 16 polling teams each comprising two polling officials, a videographer, a micro observer, and one half section of armed security personnel are conducting this house-to-house visits of absentee voters.

Meanwhile, the second round of training for polling personnel appointed as Presiding Officers, PO-1, PO-2, and PO-3 has concluded on Sunday. The two-day training programme was held at Thambal Marik College, Oinam for 24-Nambol AC and 25-Oinam AC; PRC Hall Mini Secretariat Complex for 26-Bishenpur AC; and CI College, Bishnupur for 27-Moirang AC, 28-Thanga AC and 29-Kumbi AC.

Altogether, 1204 polling personnel were present in the training.

S Indrajit Singh, ARO Nambol AC and Oinam AC; Rishikanta Loitongbam, ARO Bishenpur AC; M Suranjoy Singh,Moirang AC and Kumbi AC and M Ricky Singh, Jr BDO, ARO Thanga AC were overall in charge of the training.
