The Manipur Home Guard Employee Welfare Association celebrated the 60th Raising Day “Sana Pungdongba Chahi,” with fervour and commitment at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal on Thursday.
The occasion was marked by floral tributes to late Home Guard personnel, recognising retired members, and honouring the media fraternity for their societal contributions.
Addressing the gathering, president of the association Yanglem Mangi emphasised the vital role of dedication and commitment in the duties performed by Home Guard personnel.
He highlighted that government support for the welfare of Home Guard personnel hinges on their unwavering dedication to duty.
Reflecting on the association’s efforts, Mangi recalled a five-year legal battle resulting in increased pay for Home Guard personnel.
He expressed optimism that the government would soon introduce a transfer policy, curbing frequent personnel transfers.
The president concluded by urging unity among all Home Guard personnel.
The ceremony also included a two-minute silence, expressing solidarity with those who sacrificed their lives defending Manipur’s integrity during this ongoing unrest.
