Well-known make-up artist and fashion designer Laishram Kumarjit was shot on his leg on Saturday by Koireng led UNLF which declared that he is being punished as a warning for running a sex racket in the state.
Laishram Kumarjit, 32, son of L Sarat of Takyel Khongbal Maning Leikai, Imphal West is a transgender who runs a salon cum spa at Sagolband Bijoygovinda Thangapat Mapan, Imphal West.
He was allegedly found running a call girl ring for high-end customers and working as a pimp for young girls and women in his network.
Kumarjit reportedly confessed his active involvement in the racket and spilled the beans on several high-end customers.
A spokesperson of Koireng led UNLF Pibarel Angomcha stated that as a part of the drive carried out against anti-social elements, he was shot on his left calf for working as a pimp.
The fashion designer was produced before the media by the organisation before he was shot in a place located at Bishnupur district on Friday night. He told mediapersons that the organisation has been putting efforts for the welfare of the society and safeguarding the women of Manipur.
However, Koireng led UNLF strongly condemned and is disappointed that some people are using women as ‘toy’, he said.
He disclosed that the organisation apprehended Kumarjit for running a well organised sex racket as well as for being a pimp. Kumarjit will be given appropriate punishment by the organisation he added. Kumarjit also admitted to the charges for which he was apprehended by the organisation, he said.
Meanwhile, Kumarjit was found near Khumbong PHC under Patsoi police station with a bullet injury on his left calf. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Earlier, the armed organisation also shot a ‘madam’ on her left calf and announced that Koireng led UNLF will investigate into the sex rackets in Manipur. The organisation also announced that there is a strong suspicion of the involvement of ministers, MLAs and other bureaucrats in these sex rackets.
Similar suspicions were also recently made by Nupi Samaj while producing an apprehended a transgender ‘pimp’ before the media.
