A team of Imphal East district commando unit seized heroin powder and arrested one drug peddler from RIMS road in front of Sky Hospital at around 1.40 pm on Wednesday.
The arrested person has been identified as one Thanglianmang Zou alias Mangcha, 43, son of Ginjakhup Zou of New-Zoupeng Village, Churachandpur district.
The police team, under the supervision of additional superintendent of police (Ops), Imphal East, Kh Herojit Singh, conducted an operation at RIMS Road, Lamphel, Imphal West after providing prior information to Imphal West district police.
During the activity, 10 soap cases containing heroin powder, weighing around 150 grams, were detected from the possession of Thanglianmang.
On questioning the arrestee revealed that he had frequently transport heroin powder from Churachandpur to Imphal on the instruction of one Rojit from New-Checkon, Imphal-East and he brought the said recovered heroin powder from Churachanrpur and was to deliver the same to the said Rojit.
The arrested person, along with the seized goods, have been handed over to Heingang police station for further necessary legal action.
