A drug peddler has been arrested and suspected heroin powder seized during random frisking and checking at Bengoon Sati Khongnang Makhong area, Imphal East, police said on Monday.
The police said the arrest took place around 6.45 pm on Sunday and the person has been identified as one Phundreimayum Aboi, 21, son of Phundreimayum Nahachou of Bengoon Mayai Leikai area, Imphal.
The Mayang Imphal police team detained him while the police team was conducting patrolling at Mayang Imphal Bengoon area at around 5.10 pm on Sunday, the police said.
During the police patrol, Aboi was found driving a black Honda Dio without registration number near Bengoon Sati Khongnang Makhong area. On seeing the presence of the police team, Aboi tried to flee from the place in a very suspicious manner but the police team managed to detain after a tussle.

On spot verification, he identified himself and on body search, eight plastic vials containing suspected heroin powder were detected from inside the right side pocket of his jogging along with a mobile handset.
On weighing, the total weight of the suspected heroin powder including the weight of the plastic vials was 10 gm, police said.
The said items along with the vehicle Honda Dio and mobile handset were seized from the spot in the presence of SDPO Mayang Imphal police station.
The police team also conducted a search at his house situated at Bengoon Mayai Leikai and found another 139 empty plastic vials and an empty soap case which he used in selling drug items.
Later, Aboi was arrested the same day at 6.45 pm and a case has been registered at Mayang Imphal Police Station for further necessary legal action.
