Manipur People’s Party (MPP) on Wednesday expressed grief over the recent heavy rainfall and hailstorm that wreaked havoc in Manipur and asserted that it has extensively damaged several properties as well as crops in many areas of the state.
The recent hailstorm has added to the woes of the weary people of the state, who are still reeling under tough times of the prevailing conflict, stated a release. It also expressed concern that the recent weather crisis might disrupt the economy of the state, which has already been stalled due to the Covid-19 pandemic and now the prevailing conflict.
The state might possibly face a potential crisis in vegetable production and price hike in the next one or two months, it asserted. It further noted the deplorable conditions of the affected victims and urged the State government to ensure the natural calamity funds reach those in need.
