The XXIX Guru Kritana Seva, 2022 and a two-day national seminar was inaugurated at Guru Gulapi Nata Sankritana Academy on Saturday at its premises in Kwakeithel, Imphal West.
Lighting of the inaugural lamp, paying floral tribute to late gurus and reciting of hymn marked the opening ceremony of the observance.
During the inaugural ceremony, Guru Khwairakpam Leibakmacha and Oja Shri Khwairakpam Wangkhei awards were conferred to PadmaShri Ksh ongbi Thouranaisabi and PadmaShri Sougaijam Thanil respectively.
Delivering the chief guest speech, Keishamthong MLA S Nishikant stressed the importance of preserving one's culture as it represents one's identity.
He said, politicians should not mix religion with politics but dharma should be maintained by every politician
Speaking as guest of honour, director of JNMDA, P Bilash suggested publishing a book based on the suggestions and ideas raised during the two-day workshop for the betterment of Art and Culture.
In this regard, he assured to provide assistance from JNMDA in publishing the book.
The function was presided over by Ajit Das, chairman of Ranganiketan International Centre for Manipur Art and Culture.
