Gitkumar Nepram nominated

Retired Chief Town Planner, Government of Manipur, Gitkumar Nepram has been nominated as member of the Internal Monitoring Committee cum Advisory Committee for Centre of Excellence in Urban Planning & Design of IIT, Kharagpur.

Currently, Gitkumar is a Member of the High Level Committee on Urban Planning constituted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Government of India.

In a letter to Gitkumar, dated February 28, the Department of Architecture and Regional Planning, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, informed him of the same; Gitkumar is also a member of the High Level Committee for Urban Planning, MoHUA, it stated.

It also mentioned that IIT Kharagpur has been designated as one of the four Centres of Excellence in Urban Planning and Design (CoE-UPD) in India by MoHUA, adding that a sum of Rs 250 crore each has been earmarked for the four Institutes.

It stated that IIT Kharagpur as Centre of Excellence will work with the states in the Eastern and North Eastern Region. The activities of the CoE will be reviewed by the Internal Monitoring Committee cum Advisory Committee on quarterly basis and by the Central Monitoring Committee (assigned by MoHUA) on half yearly basis, it added.

Every Institute shall constitute an Internal Monitoring cum Advisory Committee to prepare Action Programme and review/monitor the programmes, it stated.

Altogether 15 individuals including Gitkumar were nominated as members of the Internal Monitoring cum Advisory Committee for a period of 2 years, it added.
