A team of Lilong police arrested a 20-year-old man who was caught red-handed with stolen geese at his residence at Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi in Thoubal district around 7.30 am on Saturday.
According to sources, the arrested person was identified as Md Yunus Khan, 20, son of late MV Ashatullah from Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi. The police arrested Yunus Khan from his residence and seized 16 stolen geese along with a two-wheeler vehicle (Maruti A-Star car- MN01G 3397) which was used in stealing the items, it continued.
It stated that around 6.30 am on Saturday, the Lilong police received a complaint filed by one Md Amjad Khan, 45, son of late Najir Ali from Lilong Chingjao stating that around 3 am some miscreants have stolen 16 geese from his farm at Lilong Chingjao. Subsequently, based on a reliable tip-off about the presence of stolen geese at the residence of Md Yunus Khan at Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi, the police team with sub-inspector PM Murtaza led by Lilong police officer-in-charge inspector N Tikendro Meitei under the supervision of senior superintendent of police Thoubal Jogeshchandra Haobijam rushed to the residence and conducted search operation by observing due formalities.
It stated that the team conducted a preliminary interrogation on Md Yunus Khan and he disclosed that the said geese were stolen from a farm located in the Lilong Chingjao area. Then the team arrested him and registered a case against him under case Fir no. 35(4) 2023 LIL PS U/S 379 IPC for further investigation, it added.
