As schools and colleges are set to resume class from June 21, as announced by the state government, displaced students at several relief camps were provided free school bags, uniforms and raincoats.
Romi Bag Industry in collaboration with All Manipur Footwear Association on Monday distributed essential items, including school bags, uniforms and raincoats at various relief camps while also initiating training programme for the stranded people.

While flagging off the distribution of essential items at Takyel Industrial Estate in Imphal West, proprietor of Romi Bag Industry, Khumbongmayum Dhanachandra told mediapersons that since schools and colleges will reopen from June 21, they started distributing school bags to the stranded students at relief camps, free of cost, to encourage them to return to schools.
Dhanachandra said for the first time, the industry has already distributed 160 school bags and will distribute 1,000 each more of school bags and school uniforms to different relief camps. He also said that 1,000 raincoats will also be distributed for volunteers of respective relief camps.
Secretary of the All Manipur Footwear Association, Lolindro Ashem said the association has started providing training programme to the stranded people who are staying at various relief camps.
During the training programme, a monthly stipend of Rs 2,000 will also be provided including free food and lodging. For the first phase, 20 people will be provided training programme, he added.
