In commemoration of the yearlong golden jubilee celebration of the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU), a comprehensive health initiative unfolded at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal.

The event featured a free eye camp and diabetic detection camp, specifically for journalists and their family members which was jointly organised by the AMWJU and the Lion Club of Imphal Excellence.

President of Lion Club of Imphal Excellence Ibomcha, while speaking to the media on the sidelines of the camp, emphasised the critical role of early diabetic detection.

He stressed the significance of identifying diabetes early on, asserting that timely treatment and dietary control play pivotal roles in ensuring a cure.

He also cautioned about the potential consequences of unmanaged diabetes, including severe conditions such as kidney failure, heart attacks, and even blindness.

Acknowledging the unique challenges faced by journalists, the doctor highlighted the prolonged exposure to screens and extensive reading as occupational hazards.

He urged journalists to prioritise routine eye check-ups to safeguard their eyesight and prevent any deterioration.
