Former Manipur Chief Minister and Congress legislature party leader O Ibobi on Friday stated that the allegation made by former MLA S Subhaschandra against the state Congress party is unfounded and the people already know the truth.
While speaking at a press conference held at its state party office located at BT Road, Imphal, Ibobi said that Subhaschandra joined the Congress party on his own will and not under the influence of the state Congress. His act is an attempt to defame the democracy of India, Ibobi added.
Ibobi said Subhaschandra alleged that he was forced to resign from primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party and his post as the MLA of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa assembly constituency. In a FIR lodged at Patsoi police station by Subhaschandra, it has been mentioned that he was threatened by state Congress MLA Th Lokeshor and K Meghachandra, Ibobi said.
“He tendered his resignation on June 17 from the primary membership of BJP and his MLA post. The resignation was approved by the speaker of Manipur State Assembly on June 18, and he was expelled from the BJP for six years under anti-party activity. Subhaschandra submitted his resignation letter in his own handwriting on his own will. The allegations that he was slapped by Lokeshor and Meghachandra is unfounded,” Ibobi asserted.
In the FIR it is also mentioned that minister Biswajit along with some Congress MLAs forced him to tender his resignation, Ibobi said while adding the Congress party does not have any relationship with Biswajit.
“It is a shame that Subhaschandra has made such allegations that the member of state Congress, Vikram and two Congress MLAs forced him to resign,” Ibobi said.
Subhaschandra left the Secular Progressive Front (SPF) camp by his own will and was not forced to stay at the camp. He informed that he will return to the camp after attending a ritual ceremony at Hiyangthang, Ibobi said. Anyone can verify by tracking the cell phone of Subhaschandra that he was not confined at the camp under the influence of the Congress, he added.
