The Session Judge, Imphal West on Wednesday directed Manipur Sajiwa Jail SP for submitting a report of the medical facility inside the jail in connection with the bail application filed by Barish Sharma.
Former BJYM president Manoharmayum Barish Sharma was arrested in connection with a shooting incident at Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai in Imphal West on October 14 night, in which five persons including a woman were injured.
The bail application under medical ground was filed through his counsel.
While hearing, his counsel submitted that he is suffering from depression, panic disorder, compulsive disorder, high cholesterol and Dyslipidemia. He has been taking medicine from Dr Lenin for the last six years. He sought bail for medical treatment under the care of his family members, the counsel added.
However, the public prosecutor argued that the said medical conditions can be well treated in judicial custody.
The court, after hearing the submissions, considered to see if the medical facility of the jail is equipped to handle the condition of the accused and whether the treatment can be accomplished while still in the judicial custody. Therefore, the court directed the jail SP to submit the medical facility in judicial custody on December 16.
