Five JD-U MPs to camp in Imphal, keep vigil of vote counting

In the event of any foul play during the counting of votes, five JD-U MPs will stage sit-in protest demonstration in front of the counting centres.

Five of the Janata Dal-United MPs will be camping in Imphal to keep vigil of the vote counting process, party sources said on Tuesday.

If the party gets any complaints from JD-U candidates about any foul play during the counting of votes, the MPs will stage sit-in protest demonstration in front of the counting centres, the JD-U said in a press release signed by Afaque Ahmed Khan, general secretary JD-U, in charge of North East.

The JD-U said that it has written to the Election Commission of India to direct the district election officers, RO/AROs to strictly ensure that complete video footage of the counting centres is taken with the help of CCTVs.

The JD-U also sought counting of postal ballots before the counting of EVM votes, new round of counting to be taken up only after the announcement of each round of counting and adequate security to be provided to the counting agents.
