A five-day workshop on Data Analysis using Excel and Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS), organised by the Statistics Department, Manipur University, kicked off at the university's court hall on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, MU vice chancellor N Lokendra stated that proper usage of applied and experimental research methodologies would greatly complement any type of research work.
"Excel and SPSS is a crucial component of social science, basic science and data analysis. They help in improving the quality of research which in turn can aid the authorities while framing policies," he said.
He maintained that research findings can variate greatly if these components are left unchecked.
He exuded confidence that the workshop would impart vital knowledge to research scholars and also aid ushering social and economic development in the state.
Dean of School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences professor Sumitra Phanjoubam and head of Department of Statistics Manipur professor Kh Kumarchand and students of the university were present during the event.
