Five-day Faculty Development Programme kicks off

The five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on entrepreneurship, organised by Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development (DVSSD), Manipur University, kicked off at the department’s training hall on Tuesday.

The training programme has been sponsored by North Eastern Council, Shillong, under the project ‘Establish, Develop and Manage Entrepreneurship Development Centres and Incubation Centres in North East Region’s Educational Institutions’.

Speaking on the occasion, DVSSD assistant professor Nambram Amulkumar asserted that the FDP programme aims to provide entrepreneurial training to around 5,000 people in the North East.

Ten entrepreneurs in Manipur will be selected by 2025 and provided financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each, he added.

He highlighted that the move would exhort the growth of an independent economy in Manipur.

“Various aspects of entrepreneurship will be covered during the training period ranging from marketing and advertising to employability and sustainability of the business model,” he said.

He further stated that the training programme had been organised to motivate and empower young entrepreneurs in Manipur and promote their business.

Director of the Department of Trade, Commerce and Industry Yumnam Robita, Imphal East assistant commissioner Laimayum Rita Devi, dean of School of Social Science, Manipur University Th Purnima devi among others were present at the inaugural ceremony.

Altogether around 30 participants from various educational institutions will be taking part in the programme.
