The team set out on the drive around 11 am to inspect illegal poaching and capturing of wildlife at the Ikop Pat, it said, adding that it seized five bird traps which were set up at various parts of Ikop Pat wetland.

ESRSPF vice president Bk Salam said that the team along with like-minded wildlife conservation enthusiasts will continue carrying out similar drives.

Salam urged the people to support the cause of conserving vulnerable wildlife by reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest authorities concerned.

One elderly local said, “Compared to the past few years, the sightings of different types of migratory birds have increased this year. And this in turn has led to the frequent visits of illegal poachers and hunters.” He appealed to the team conducting the inspection drive to take up necessary actions.
