The first round of National Deworming Day was launched at Malon Megha High School, which was organised by Directorate of Health Services, Manipur, in collaboration with the State Health Society, NHM, on Tuesday.
The occasion marked the State Level Launching of the National Deworming Day, 1st Round, 2024 and administration of deworming tablets to children, symbolizing the state’s commitment to public health initiatives.
During the launching ceremony, Health Service director O Sanahanbi Devi emphasized on the importance of deworming initiatives in safeguarding the health of children across the state.
The launching programme was attended by Hungyo Worshang, Special Secretary of the government of Manipur, and Somorjit Ningombam, State Mission Director of NHM; Laishram Nandakumar Singh, Director of Education (S), Manipur, and Ng Uttam Singh, Director of Social Welfare, Manipur.

The first round of National Deworming Day 2024 was also launched at three places of Thoubal district by the District Health Society, Thoubal under National Health Mission on Tuesday.
It was launched at Relief Camp Rice Research Centre, Khangabok, Fancier Higher Secondary School, Okram Wangmataba and Evergreen Flowers School, Thoubal Ningombam. Chief medical officer, Thoubal Y Nokul Singh attended all the three launch events as chief guest. The event started by helping the children
Y Nokul said that the goal is to provide Albendazole deworming tablets to 1,00,000 children between the ages of 1 and 19 including children in relief camps. He also stressed the need to improve cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene. DPM, NHM, Thoubal, CDPO Lilong, CDPO Thoubal, supervisors and health staff attended the programme.
ZEO Kakching Yengkhom Achouba launched National Deworming Day 2024 at Wabagai Higher Secondary School under District Health Society Kakching. Chief medical officer Kakching Thaodem Rajen and Wabagai Higher Secondary School principal Mayengbam Bhorot attended the event as presidium members.
