First ever luxury five-star hotel in Manipur coming up in 2025; CM Biren lays foundation stone

The five-star hotel, which is to be constructed at the northern side of Imphal Hotel by the Classic Group of Hotels in collaboration with the state government in PPP model, is planned to be completed before the Sangai Festival 2025.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday laid the foundation stone of the first ever "Luxury 5-star Hotel" in the state at Kabo Leikai in Imphal East.

The five-star hotel, which is to be constructed at the northern side of Imphal Hotel by the Classic Group of Hotels in collaboration with the state government in PPP model, is planned to be completed before the Sangai Festival 2025.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the years-long efforts of the state government to establish a five-star hotel in the state will now turn into reality.

The state has a lot of potential for immense growth in various sectors, he said, adding it is the public’s support and coordination which is needed to turn this potential into advantages.

Stating that the state had witnessed positive changes in the mindset of the public where good works have started getting appreciation, the minister called on the people of the state, "Let's take this time and opportunity to advance forward. Don't hesitate in taking up good work”.

Pointing out that hospitality is an inborn quality of the people of Manipur, he said such quality has made Manipur get a big room in Southeast Asia.

"It will be not wise to compromise such quality inherited from our fore-fathers. We need to preserve and uplift it," added Biren.

Lauding the service and hospitality given by the Classic Groups of Hotel in hosting state's guests in the recent G20 Summit, Miss Femina India and others, the chief minister wished the upcoming five-star hotel a grand success.

Chairman of Classic Group of Hotel, Th Dhabali, informed that the Hotel Imphal and Sendra Resort, managed by the Classic in PPP model, has generated as much as Rs. 4,03,30,000 in the last eight years.

The average number of hotel rooms required on average per day is around 500 to 600. The around 20 hotels in the state are able to provide 700 rooms of which 40 per cent of the room is provided by the Classic, he informed.

He predicted that the number of hotel rooms required per day will increase to between 1,000 to 1,500 and will be more during the festive session.

Talking about the upcoming five-star hotel, Dhabali informed that it will have as many as 70 rooms, 150 parking lot space and a conference hall with an intake capacity of 500 besides having all the other needed facilities such as swimming pool, spa, club, gym, souvenir shop and others. 

The programme also witnessed MAHUD minister Y Khemchand; Commerce and Industries minister Nemcha Kipgen; Health minister S Ranjan; CAF and PD minister L Sushindro; MLAs Th Arunkumar, RK Imo, Abdul Nasir, officials and entrepreneurs among others.
