First AIR Imphal Kabui Programme announcer P Gaichui passes away

Gaichui breath her last at the Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Delhi around 11.50 am Thursday.

The first All India Radio (AIR), Imphal Kabui Programme announcer P Gaichui passed away on Thursday due to cardiac arrest. She was 82.

Family sources told the Imphal Free Press that Gaichui was a diabetic patient and suffered a cardiac arrest recently. She breath her last at the Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Delhi around 11.50 am Thursday.

Wife of former MP and professor Meijinlung Kamsom, Gaichui became the first announcer of AIR Imphal, Kabui Programme in 1963.

The mortal remains of Gaichui will be flown to her hometown at Majorkhul in Imphal Friday morning, the sources added.
