Fire destroys largest pharmacy in Churachandpur

Fire destroyed a pharmacy with goods worth Rs 3 crore in Churachandpur.

A fire which reportedly broke out from a short circuit burnt down Mangcha Medico, the largest medicine retailer and wholesale supplier in Churachandpur district around 1.30 am on Saturday.

The fire destroyed goods worth Rs 3 crore, including stocks of medicines, three computers, three refrigerators, two printers and important documents.

Mangcha Medico is the largest medicine retailer and wholesale supplier in Churachandpur district, having association with more than 45 medicine manufacturing companies. 

Proprietor of Mangcha Medico Kaikhomang said that the shop was closed at around 6 pm daily, and mentioned that his family were residing in the two upper floors of the shop. He added that he and his family were not aware of the fire until around 2.30 am when they called the fire brigade.

It took hours for the fire to be subdued, he informed. He speculated that the fire must have started from a short circuit from a wall fan inside the building. He extended appreciation to his neighbours and the fire brigade of Churachandpur in dousing the fire.
