‘Farmers Training Programme on Rejuvenation of Farm Economy and Distribution of Urea’ was jointly organised by United Committee Manipur (UCM) and Agriculture department at Awang Sekmai Parao Community Hall, Imphal West on Monday.
A release issued by UCM stated that UCM along with the Agriculture department conducted the farmers training programme as part of the campaign to achieve self-sustenance in terms of food in the state.
The event was attended by Sekmai Municipal Corporation councilor Heikrujam (O) Anandi Devi as the chief guest, UCM president Joychandra Konthoujam as the president, and Parao Development Association vice president Sagolsem Sana as dais member, along with W Nupendra from Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Bishnupur district as the resource person.
During the occasion, president Joychandra Konthoujam commended the Agriculture minister and the authorities concerned for extending support for the programme conducted by UCM, it added. Under the aegis of the Agriculture minister, UCM had conducted various programmes for the farmers such as the urea distribution, distribution of sprinkler irrigation under the PMKSY and sprayer pump under the RKVY, along with the training programme under ATMA, it continued.
The farmers should organise farmers' clubs and reap the benefits of the different schemes provided by the government, it stated. It also highlighted the importance of agriculture. During the occasion, 50 bags of urea fertilisers were distributed to the farmers at the rate set by the government, it added.
