Manipur Loumee Lup (MLL) on Thursday condemned the Narendra Modi-led BJP government for not acknowledging the deaths of 750 farmers who lost their lives in the protest against the new three farm bills which was passed this September.
In a release, MLL stated that the BJP government defied democracy and abused the power of majority in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on passing the new three farm bills. It accused the Prime Minister for rejecting the late former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri’s influential phrase, “Jai Kishan Jai Kishan” (Hail Farmers Hail Farmers).
It further stated that amid the Supreme Court’s effort to halt the bills for two years while PM Modi attempts to pass the bills to acts for the benefit of his favoured giant corporate owners, many giant corporate have started to nab the farmers of Punjab and Haryana from their produces in masses and traded to other states, including Manipur.
Accusing PM Narendra Modi for faking love and support for the farmers’ community while working for the benefits of the giant corporate owners, the farmers’ organisation assured full support to the movements of the Samyukta Kishan Morcha.
