Ex-Servicemen extend assistance

Public support continues to pour in for the displaced victims of the recent unprovoked attacks by Kuki militants in Jiribam district, who are seeking refuge at various relief camps.

Members of Lakhipur Land Leikai, Ex Servicemen welfare Association, Cachar Assam and MM Sharma leikai on Tuesday distributed essential edible goods including medicines, drinking water, clothes to the inmates of the relief camp at Bidyanagar Multi-Purpose Sports Complex indoor hall, Jiribam.

Taking part in the distribution event, president of Ex Servicemen welfare association Th Binod Kumar Singha highlighted the prevailing situation in Jiribam district and urged the state government to look into the matter and ensure peace and normalcy in the district at the earliest.

Speaking on the sidelines, vice president of the association, Mutum Dinamani Singh voiced the statement made by Binod urging the government’s intervention in bringing back normalcy in the district. He further expressed concern for the future of the sportspersons, who are the assets of the state and appealed to take stock of the situation at the earliest.

Daughter of one Ningombam Brajalal Singh from Jiribam Hilghat, Urikhebam ongbi Biyoya devi and her family members on Tuesday provided basic necessary items including rice, dal, oil and edibles to the relief camps.

Speaking on the sidelines, one person named Madol, said that the items were distributed to ease the difficulties faced by the displaced victims in the camps.
