Essential items distributed to specially-abled persons

New Hope Life Foundation for Disabilities distributed necessary items to 21 specially-abled persons on Monday.

In a move towards the welfare of specially-abled individuals, the New Hope Life Foundation for Disabilities distributed necessary items to 21 specially-abled persons on Monday.

The distribution event, marking the 11th phase of their ongoing initiative, was held at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal.

Speaking on the occasion, founder member of the foundation Nandeibam Ibeyaima highlighted the pivotal role the organisation plays in supporting the PWDs.

She emphasised the foundation’s commitment to ensuring that the rights of PWDs are recognised and exercised.

The distribution programme was initiated considering the prevailing situation in Manipur which has prolonged for over one year, she said, assuring that the foundation will continue to aid the PWDs in the coming future.

Former minister L Jayentakumar praised the efforts of the New Hope Life Foundation for Disabilities and called for more community involvement in supporting PWDs.

He highlighted the importance of inclusivity and accessibility in building a more equitable society.

The items distributed included 300 liter water storage tanks and wheelchairs among other essential goods, aiming to address the immediate needs of the specially-abled community.

The programme also witnessed the presence of vice-president of New Hope Life Foundation for Disabilities Shanta Takhellambam; principal of Delhi Public School, New Delhi Laishram Rajesh; and AMUCO secretary organisation Laishram Krishnachandra among others.
