Empowerment of Citizens: Door-to-door legal campaign continues

On the 3rd day of the campaign, SDO Wangoi, Heisnam Sukumar flagged off the mobile van for campaign from his office.

One-day legal awareness programme has been organised by District Legal Services Authority, Tamenglong on Thursday at Christian Grammar School, Thingkham Square, Tamenglong district as a part of ‘Empowerment of Citizens through Legal Awareness and Outreach- A pan India campaign’.

The programme sponsored by Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority was attended by secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Tamenglong Laishram Rina Devi; principal, Christian Grammar School Clement H Panmei; advocate Daniel P Kamsuan; teaching and non-teaching staffs, students of Christian Grammar School and Para Legal Volunteers of Legal Aid Clinic, Tamenglong.

Speaking on the topic, ‘Prohibition of Child Marriage’, Advocate Daniel P Kamsuan elaborated the salient features of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006.  

Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials were also distributed for spreading legal awareness.

Meanwhile, the door-to-door mobile campaign for Imphal West as a part of the ‘Empowerment of Citizens through Legal Awareness and Outreach’ continues. On the 3rd day of the campaign, SDO Wangoi, Heisnam Sukumar flagged off the mobile van for campaign from his office.

The van along with law students will spread awareness to empower the citizens by making door-to-door visits.

The campaign started by District Legal Services Authority, Imphal West will be conducted for four days.
