EDA celebrates Advent Christmas, elects new office bearers

The Eimi doctors under the aegis of Eimi Doctors’ Association (EDA) celebrated Advent Christmas during its annual get-together at Dynasty Ball Room, the Classic Grande, Chingmeirong Imphal on Wednesday.

Retired, director RIMS professor L Fimate attended the occasion as chief guest and HOD, department of Pharmacology, JNIMS Dr Valkung Valte and president Churachandpur Doctors’ Association Dr Jamthianlal Valte attended as guest of honour while founder director, Touch and Hope Foundation Dr Chinkholal Thangsing attended as president.

In his presidential speech, president, Eimi Doctors’ Association Dr Paokai Kipgen said that EDA is an autonomous and non-political body formed by Eimi Doctors worldwide for the welfare of its members with three aims and objectives.

He continued that to build closer relationships among the Eimi doctors, to help sharpen academic knowledge and skills of Eimi doctors through scientific sessions, and serving the Eimi people through various health activities are the three main aims and objectives of EDA.

The president also thanked all the Eimi doctors who have been supporting the efforts of EDA and appealed to all the Eimi doctors to continue supporting EDA to fulfill its aims and objectives.

Dr L Fimate highlighted the scope of increase in Medical Colleges/Institutes in the state as there is little relaxation in the criteria of opening medical colleges in India, and motivated the budding doctors to prioritise in getting enrolled in various departments in medical colleges while encouraging to uphold Medical ethics while discharging duties.

He also motivated the Eimi doctors to continue with such a platform and do something for the welfare of the society.

Stressing on the need to address the gaps in respect of human resources and infrastructures in health care system in remote areas, Dr Jamthianlal Valte highlighted the need for an associations like Churachandpur Doctors’ Association (CDA) and Eimi Doctors’ Association to work together to ensure that necessary basic health care services are delivered to the poor and needy citizens of the remote areas.

HOD department of Pharmacology, JNIMS Dr Varkung Valte stressed on the need to remain updated throughout one’s professional life being a doctor so as to cater to the needs of the society in a careful and proper manner.

He advised the budding doctors to avoid passing unnecessary information to the relatives and families of patients as to prevent unwanted attacks on us from hostile patient parties.

The event also marked the election of new executive members for the term 2022-2024 with Dr V Haokip and Dr J Touthang as the returning officer and presiding officer respectively.

The event was attended by Jajai Singsit and Christy Vunggoh and moderated by Dr Thanglamuang Neihsial and Dr Charissa Touthang saw several presentations from the children of Eimi Doctors and Advent Christmas gift exchange, etc.
