E-ticket fiasco: Air India clarifies

Station manager of Air India Limited, Imphal, Thokchom Brojen clarified that due to some technical error the address of issuing officer in Air India e-ticket was mentioned as Lamka, Imphal.

With much ruckus created due to an alleged misprinting of the Airport Ticketing Office (ATO) of Air India at Imphal International Airport as Lamka, Air India on Monday clarified the same stating that it was due to some technical error.

In a join conference held at the Changangei Youths’ Union Club, Changangei, Imphal West on Monday, Station manager of Air India Limited, Imphal, Thokchom Brojen clarified that due to some technical error the address of issuing officer in Air India e-ticket was mentioned as Lamka, Imphal.

He told the media that the address of the issuing officer in e-ticket cannot be changed in the office of Imphal, Guwahati or Kolkata. It seems that there might have been some technical error, he said.

Stating that he was also not aware of ‘Lamka’ in the issuing office address and as the matter was published in some media, he immediately requested the authority concerned to change the right address, he said.

He said the problem has been solved as the authority concerned also reacted immediately as it could lead to misunderstanding among the people.

He also requested the head office to put an enquiry on the technical error.

President of United Committee of Changangei Club and Organisation, (UNICCO), Chingtham Sanajaoba and Vice president, UNICCO, A Narjit Singh also attended the press conference.

Meanwhile, decrying the misprinting, six student bodies of the state comprising MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK and AIMS on Monday demanded swift and full clarification from the airline at the earliest.

The student bodies, in a joint release, said the ‘misprinting of address’ will not be taken lightly and asserted that issuing Lamka as the address of Imphal international airport, amid the burning crisis in the state, is a grave challenge to the people and the state’s territorial integrity.

Leaders of the six student bodies went to the airport to meet the authorities concerned, however found none and the counter was also closed, they stated in a press release. The student bodies expressed discontentment that such action, which seemed deliberate, will add even more fuel to the prevailing tension.
