It can be mentioned that the Malkhana set up at the Churachandpur police station is said to be the first one in the state. It is a place to safe keep the items seized from cases undertaken by the police. The Malkhana had been digitised and the items will be kept in the lockers locked with barcodes. When the barcode is scanned the FIR number, locker numbers and other important information will be displayed on a computer, which can be accessed by the respective IO for use in the court of law.
According to sources, the technology used in the Malkhana requires no internet access so as to minimise the chances of cyber-attacks. Since the inauguration of the e-Malkhana, more than 1000 seized items had been stored after following the proper procedures, it added.
