Imphal East District police seized a large number of psychotropic drugs from a residence located at Khabeisoi Saban Leikai, Imphal East while one was arrested on Monday.
The arrested person has been identified as one Meinam Abul Kalam, 35, son of Meinam Abdul Salam of Kwakta Pangal Lamkhai, presently staying at Khabeisoi Saban Leikai, Imphal East.
Police reported that acting on a tip-off about some illegal drugs being transported to the house of Abdul, the commando team along with a team of Heingang police station rushed to the said area.
In the presence of executive magistrate and independent civil witnesses, Abdul was searched, including his belongings and house. During the operation, as many as 38,016 Span PRX tablets; 15,840 Semplx tablets; 3,000 Netaks tablets, and 79 Codeine cough syrup bottles were detected and seized.
Abdul and the seized psychotropic drugs were handed over to Heingang police station for further necessary legal action.
