Drivers’ union extends monetary aid to injured driver

Thongbam Joy Singh, 32 of Bokajan, Karbiyalong, Assam sustained injury after he was attacked by economic blockade supporters along NH 2 on November 23 at about 8 pm near Senapati, AMRTDMWU stated in a release.

All Manipur Road Transport Drivers and Motor Workers' Union (AMRTDMWU) on Saturday stated that it has provided monetary aid to a driver who sustained injury during an attack by economic blockade supporters along NH-2.

A release issued by general secretary, AMRTDMWU Anil Maimom mentioned that Thongbam Joy Singh, 32 of Bokajan, Karbiyalong, Assam sustained injury after he was attacked by economic blockade supporters along NH 2 on November 23 at about 8 pm near Senapati. During the incident Joy received injury on his eyes, it stated.

On November 25, after an eye operation conducted at RIMS, Lamphel, his health condition is stable at present, it mentioned.

As necessary assistance, the union reimbursed the entire expenditure of the operation and the reimbursed amount was handed over to the injured on Saturday,  it stated.

It further mentioned that elderly drivers who are not benefited with pensions should submit their relevant documents to the union office immediately.
