National Girl Child Day 2022 was widely held in Tamenglong district organised by different organizations.
Para Legal Volunteers Tamenglong under the aegis of District Legal Service Authority Tamenglong on Monday organised drawing competition for girls children home in Tamenglong as a part of the National Girl Child Day. The competition was sponsored by Manipur State Legal Service Authority.
The main aim of the day was to spread awareness about the gender-based discrimination that girls face in the society.
Contributing towards an equal and healthy society, 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sector AR/ IGAR (East) organised one-day long 'Beti ki Sehat, medical camp'. The battalion medical team reached doorsteps of girls in Kahulong village in Tamenglong district. The medical practitioners conducted free medical checkup and distributed free medicines to the beneficiary.
The battalion doctor while addressing the gathering said that the objective behind celebrating the Girl Child day is to construct a habitable society for females where they feel equally safe and get equal opportunities as the males.
This day also represents the importance of education and health for girls, and raises awareness regarding multiple issues ranging from female infanticide, sexual abuse and gender inequality.
Under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav,’ this year, the National Girl Child Day will be dedicated to reaching out to 75 families having girl child, for their free medical checkup and distribution of free medicines.
