The award was handed over to him in acknowledgment of his efforts and contributions to the society during an event organised by Dr BR Sports Foundation at Indira Gandhi Arena Jadhav Wrestling Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday, stated a release on Tuesday.

Dr Kala is a cardio-vascular and thoracic surgeon at Raj Medicity, North AOC and Public hospital Hatta, it stated.

It highlighted the humanitarian services initiated by him including organising free medical camps at village areas, distributing relief items to individuals at Covid-19 affected areas, providing assistance to ailing individuals, elderly people, differently abled, womenfolk, farmers and those staying at relief camps.

It further mentioned the awards received by Kala, including the Lifetime Achievement Award 2023, Corona Warrior 2022, Seva Rathna National Award 2022, Best CSI-North East Chapter President Award 2009 and Distinguished Service Award 2006 etc.
