Do not fall prey to vested interest schemes: AMSGO

AMSGO general secretary Sumati Sougrakpam stated that the people should not fall prey to the schemes of vested interest groups and individuals and strive together for the restoration of peace and unity in Manipur.

The All Manipur Students Guardians’ Organisation (AMSGO), Manipur condemned the ongoing communal clash in the state which led to the loss of many innocent lives and destruction of countless properties.

A release issued by AMSGO general secretary Sumati Sougrakpam stated that the people should not fall prey to the schemes of vested interest groups and individuals and strive together for the restoration of peace and unity in Manipur. It also drew the attention of the authorities to implement an apt policy programme immediately.

AMSGO in collaboration with SingjameiApunbaNupiLup visited various relief camps in the state and provided relief materials of essential items including kitchen items, edible items, toiletries and clothes, it stated.  The refugees at the relief camps expressed concerned that they will not feel secure returning to their home, it mentioned.

It drew the attention of the authorities concerned and the 60 MLAs of the state to implement measures to help the victims of the clash whose houses and properties was burned to ashes so that they will be able to restore normalcy and live a life free of fear of another attack.

It also urged the authorities concerned to take up measures to provide a safe and secure educational environment for the students promptly, appealing for a free education for the children from the victim families who had lost their houses and properties in the clash. Steps should be taken up to help the daily wage earners who are affected by the curfews, it added.
