Forum for Restoration of Peace Manipur (FRPM) on Wednesday cautioned one Kuki-Zo Volunteer group not to unnecessarily drag the name of Tangkhul community into the conflict.
FRPM stated that the forum has been striving relentlessly to usher peace into Manipur without any communal biases ever since the crisis erupted.
Speaking to the media at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal, FRPM convenor Ashang Kasar cautioned Kuki-Zo Volunteer group to refrain from bringing up the name of Tangkhul community in connection with the crisis. Such dumbfounded comments will do no good, he added.
He refuted the Kuki-Zo Volunteer’s allegations against him and stated that he had not and will never take any biased stance throughout the conflict.
“I have presented only facts and figures. If they feel offended they should refute it properly instead of intimidating and threatening me,” he said.
He warned that the Tangkhul community would not remain mute spectators if other communities continue to unnecessarily provoke them.
“Everyone in Manipur has the right to advocate for peace and harmony,” he said.
He reminded the Kuki-Zo Volunteer their reckless remark could incite problems for Kukis living in non-Kuki dominated areas.
He advised Kuki leaders to look into auch matter and maintained that he would take legal aid regarding the matter.
Meanwhile, FRPM coordinator Romy Palmei highlighted that the forum was formed to advocate for peace and tranquility in Manipur.
She also condemned the threat against the Tangkhul community for voicing their factual opinion in the crisis.
