MAHUD Minister Y Khemchand on Sunday appealed to customers at Khwairamband market and shop keepers of in and around Khwairamband market, especially Paona and Thangal markets, not to dispose of waste at inappropriate places.
The minister was speaking on the sidelines of a mass awareness-cum-cleanliness drive held at Khwairamband area on Saturday, eve of Sangai Festival 2022.
Khemchand said many tourists from outside the state as well as foreign delegates will be coming to witness the Sangai Festival. People should convey to the outsiders when they come to see Sangai festival for a clean Imphal City, he added.
The cleanliness drive was started from the western side of Polo Ground and covered Paona and Thangal bazaar area.
Media-in-Charge of BJP Manipur Pradesh and state vice president of the party, Ch Chidananda; general secretary L Deben; P Premananda Meetei and other BJP members attended the cleanliness drive.
The programme was jointly organised by BJP Imphal Central District and Imphal Municipal Corporation under the aegis of BJP Manipur Pradesh.
