District level Kala Utsav 2022-23 held

Classical music, dance, folk dance, visual arts and vocal music traditional folk marked Kala Utsav in Churachandpur.

The Churachandpur District Level Kala Utsav, 2022-23 was held on Friday at Synod Hall, IB Road, Churachandpur where students from over 10 different schools of the district participated. It was organised by the Samagha Shiksha under Zonal Education Office, Churachandpur.

Kala Utsav is an initiative of the Ministry of Education (MoE) under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan to promote arts in education by nurturing and showcasing the artistic talent of school students at the secondary stage in the country.

Vocal classical music (male and female), classical dance (male and female), folk dance (male and female), Visual Arts (male and female) and Vocal Music Traditional Folk (male and female) are the main category that was witnessed on Friday where the winners, judged by competent folk musicians, will represent the district in the State level Kala Utsav.

At the sideline of the competition, an official from ZEO, Nangkhanlal Ngaihte, DI of school, said the programme was organised with the theme to inculcate the talent of students so that they will excel beyond their studies. He also said that this is not the end of their activities but that it will go on and called on schools and parents to encourage their students/children for such extra-curricular activities.

After the day-long day, the winners were given certificates, led by ZEO of Churachandpur, Chingkhei Singh, with the official informing that the winners will also perform in the coming Sangai Festival apart from representing the district as programmed by the Education Department.
