The Cine-off day, which is a monthly event, organised by the Film Forum Manipur and Cine Artistes & Technicians' Association (CATA), Manipur, was held at Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Film Forum Manipur chairman Laimayum Surjakanta Sharma stated that film production in the state had been seriously hampered by the conflict.
"Film production also suffered heavily during the Covid-19 pandemic. Since we cannot foretell when the conflict will end, a serious discourse applicable measure needs to happen," he said.
He pointed out that Manipuri films in the past were made according to the taste of the audience and now, the film had transitioned into more complex subject matter.
"Contemporary Manipuri films have brought national and international laurels. New filmmakers are starting to explore deep subject matters," he said.
He highlighted that the event was centred on discussing the plights and distress faced by the Manipur film fraternity.
CATA Manipur president RK Jnanranjan, filmmaker Maipaksana Haorongbam, author and filmmaker Wahengbam Bobby among others were also present at the event.
