Three volunteers of the Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) who were arrested for their protests against the director of education (S), were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West and released on bail by furnishing a personnel bond Rs 30,000 each.
They were released amid the series of demonstrations by DESAM on Wednesday across various districts including Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur and Kakching, demanding release of volunteers detained during recent protests. They were protesting against the government, demanding that the pre-primary teacher recruitment must be halted.
The court released them on the ground that no substantial evidence was found to show prima facie against the volunteers as per the remand and bail objection submitted by the Imphal Police Station and Lamphel Police Station.
The two FIR were filed against the three office bearers of DESAM under section 186/380/506/120B and section 3 of prevention of damage to public property on allegation of damaging the office of education (s) director, Lamphel office and Samagra Siksha office in Babupura.
The accused persons were given judicial remand under the FIR lodged by the Lamphel police and further taken to police custody by Imphal Police Station.
