‘Deploy additional state forces before Kadangband turns into ashes’

Kadangband village is located at the district border area of Imphal West and Kangpokpi area where Kukis are inhabited in large numbers.

Villagers of Kadangband, Imphal West have urged the state government and authority concerned to deploy additional state forces in the area, expressing their fear that the village could be reduced into ashes within a short time by Kukis.

Singda Kadangband Part 1, secretary Laitonjam Memecha told the media at Kadangband Part I on Wednesday that since the oubreak of the clash, villagers of Kadangband have been attacked frequently by the Kuki militants. The village is located at the district border area of Imphal West and Kangpokpi area where Kukis are inhabited in large numbers.

She said villagers of the area have been living in fear and trauma with the unpredicted sounds of guns and bombs day and night. However, with the deployment of 7th Manipur Rifles in the village they have been defending the attack and have been securing the villagers, she added.

She further said that the personnel of 7th MR are deployed in three directions; however, one direction which is adjacent to a Kuki village is not secured. Memecha added that if the Kuki militants attack from that direction, then Kadangband village could turn into ashes within a few hours.

She appealed to the authorities concerned and the state government to deploy more state forces to save Kadangband village.
