A public meeting cum mass rally was held at Sangaithel Makha Leikai Community Hall in connection with the suspicious death of Abemma (Sangaithel), wife of Nongthonbam Sanathoi of Jiribam on February 7.
The mass rally was held from Sangaithel Makha Leikai community hall to Sangaithel police outpost.
During the public meeting, the people demanded a post-mortem report of Abemma. Terming her death as suspicious, the public meeting also demanded the arrest of her husband.
They also appealed to the DGP, Manipur, to direct the concerned police station to investigate the case properly and register an FIR.
The meeting also questioned why the police are not taking statements from deceased parents. If it is suicide, should nothing be done about it, they questioned. The meeting also expressed that police action is very slow in the case.
