Cyclone Remal: Centre announces ex-gratia

An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh would be given to the next kin of each deceased while those injured would be compensated with Rs 50,000 each from the PMNRF.

With human casualties and damages on properties due to Cyclone Remal in the Northeastern states over the last one week or so, the Centre has announced an ex-gratia for the kin of each deceased and those injured.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh would be given to the next kin of each deceased while those injured would be compensated with Rs 50,000 each from the PMNRF.

“An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased due to the natural disasters in the aftermath of Cyclone Remal in Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and West Bengal. The injured would be given Rs 50,000 each: PM,” the PMO tweeted on their official X handle.

Responding to the announcement, CM Biren expressed gratitude to the Prime minister.

“I join the people of Manipur in expressing our gratitude to Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji for the compassionate support in these challenging times. The ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured reflects your unwavering commitment to aiding those affected by Cyclone Remal,” Biren stated on his official Facebook handle.

Earlier, PM Modi and HM Amit Shah had expressed concerns with regards to the flood in the north east region while expressing solidarity with the people.
