Tamenglong district on Monday raised the curtain to celebrate the 75th Indian Republic Day in Tamenglong district by flagging off the ceremony of the first ever Republic Run 2024 and rehearsal conducted for the main celebration at Mini Stadium, Lower ground Tamenglong.
The first ever republic run was organied as part of the republic day celebration by 6 Assam Rifles, Tamenglong battalion from Mini Stadium Lower ground and culminated at Khongsang village for the youth, villagers and students of Tamenglong and Noney districts.
The flagging off ceremony was attended by SDC Tamenglong Headquarters Md Abdul Mahajitsa, social worker Akinsin Gangmei, Assistant Inspector of school Tawibou, Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation leaders Jonah and Pousalung.
In his speech as chief guest, 6 Assam Rifles Commandant Colonel Aman Ahluwalia, Sana Medal said that Tamenglong Battalion intends to set the stage for youth, villagers and students to connect with the National flag ahead of India’s 75th Republic Day celebrations.
He said that the aim of Republic Run is to spread awareness of the importance of republic day and to unite the people by reflecting the inclusive nature of the democracy.
He informed that Republic Run will commence from Tamenglong and move along NH 37 till Khongsang. He also congratulated and thanked all the enthusiastic participants including villagers, youths, students and Security Force personals of Assam Rifles, Manipur Rifles, CRPF and civil police who are taking part in a run that transcends more physical exertion but remind of the values enshrined in the constitution and the collective responsibility to bear towards the diverse yet united nation.
“Beyond the physical aspects the Republic day run is a symbolic gesture of unity and solidarity under our National flag.
As the runners cross the finish line, they will carry with them a sense of accomplishment and pride”, commandant Colonel Aman Ahluwalia, SM said.
Hundreds of students, youths, including CRPF, AR participated in the republic run.
